The Reno-Sparks area, along with Tahoe, are well known for their breweries and pubs. While some of these locations are limited to only serving drinks, there are plenty of breweries that serve up delicious food along with their microbrews. Whether you’re in the mood for an afternoon drink following a big day of exploring or want to grab some dinner and a beer, the local pubs never disappoint.
Some of our favorite breweries that also serve food are Great Basin Brewing Co. located in Sparks, NV, The Brewer’s Cabinet located in Reno, NV, and The Brewery at Lake Tahoe located in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Each of these breweries has a selection of traditional American pub food, pizza, beer, and a variety of other specialty drinks perfect for the whole family!
And if you’re just looking for a spot to grab a drink, then check out these local favorites and show them your support! Some of these spots are even pet-friendly, just give them a call before you head on over.
The Scheels located in the Outlets at Legends is the largest sporting goods store in the United States at a staggering 295,000 square feet. Not only will you find every piece of sporting equipment, hunting gear, and workout attire you could ever dream of, but there are also several other attractions that make visiting Scheels such a unique shopping experience. Within the store walls resides a 65-foot Ferris Wheel, two clear columns filled with live fish, 14 wax sculptures of past presidents, virtual reality games, a two-lane bowling alley, and a complete deli with specialty gelato.
Here in Reno, we don’t just have baseball games, we have “Aceball” games. The Reno Aces is our city’s AAA baseball team and the locals are always excited to show their support and attend a game at the Greater Nevada Field. The games are fun for fans of all ages and they even hold unique events and promotions like Star Wars Night and Fireworks Friday. You can also enjoy all of your favorite baseball treats such as hot dogs, candied apples, popcorn, and of course beer. All you have to do is grab a seat, bring your hat, and have a good time!
Last Chance Joe is a 32-foot cartoon character that adorns the outside of the Nevada Sparks Museum located right on Victorian Avenue. The massive made-up man was created by Roscoe E. “Duke” Reading in 1952 specifically for the Last Chance Cafe. The cartoon character was eventually transformed into a gold miner and was used in ads for the Nugget Casino. Later, Joe’s character was erected as a giant statue and put outside of the Casino which has now been turned into the Sparks Museum.
The Generator is a massive 34,000 square foot communal art space designated for the community of artists, builders, and more to come and create their masterpieces. The studio, which is located inside of a large warehouse, was created by Matt Schultz, an artist and serious Burning Man devotee. The Generator functions similarly to how Burning Man runs - as in your money is no good there. Instead, tools, materials, and skills are to be shared free of charge.
Here, artists, carpenters, builders, engineers, designers, and creators of all types come to create whatever they wish together at The Generator. These very large, very unique pieces are then held in the facility for guests to admire.
